Tablets

Tablets are overwhelmingly used to play games and access entertainment (67 per cent), while smartphones are divided between games, social networking, and utilities (to name a few). Basically, tablets are seen as an entertainment platform, while smartphones are considered mostly a communications device. Tablets can be thought of as small, handheld computers. They're smaller than a laptop but larger than a smartphone. Tablets take features from both devices to form a kind of hybrid device, somewhere between a phone and computer, but they don't necessarily function the same way as either. Examples of sugar-coated tablets include Reasulf tablets – dried ferrous sulphate BP 200mg (Reagan Remedies Ltd.), Advil – Ibuprofen tablet BP 200mg (Pfizer Consumer Healthcare), Ebu-200 – Ibuprofen tablet BP 200mg (Me cure Industries Ltd) etc.

Background: Multilayer tablets are gaining importance in oral sustained drug delivery. They consist of an active matrix core and one or more layers applied during tableting which may act as barriers and regulate drug release. Tablets may be defined as solid pharmaceutical dosage forms containing drug substances with or without suitable diluents and prepared by either compression or moulding methods. Hence, tablets can be broadly classified as compressed tablets and moulded tablets.
